Introduction to rava Kesari recipe : 


Though there are many recipes in rava , Kesari is the most livable and favourite recipe for many . 

Rava kesari is an south Indian style of dessert which will be prepared for any occasions , festivals or celebrations . Some will have this as a breakfast or have along with a breakfast . It is an aromatic and delicious sweet . There are different types of kesari in red , orange , white and green color ( according to the food color which people add to it ) . We can also plate it in different shapes as we desire .

🔖 Use non-stick pan .

Ingredients :


  • Rava - 1 cup
  • Ghee - 5-6 tablespoon
  • Water - 2-3 cup
  • Sugar - 3/4 to 1 cup of sugar 
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 tablespoon
  • Cashew nut - 8-10
  • Raisins - 8
  • Saffron - few strands 

Method of preparation :


  • In a non stick pan , add 2 tablespoon of ghee . Then , add cashews and start to roast in a low flame . When the cashews turns slight golden color add raisins and roast . Once a raisins turns puffy take the cashews and raisins from the pan and keep it aside .

Tip : non-stick pan 
  • In the same pan , add extra 2 tablespoon ghee and start to roast rava in a medium flame . Just roast it for 2-3 minutes . When a nice aromatic smell arises from the rava stop roasting it and keep it aside .

  • Don't over roast rava then it will burn . 

  • Then , in the same pan  , add 2 cups of water . If you want watery consistency you can add one more cup of water .

( If you want rich taste you can add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of milk )

  • Let the water to heat . When the water starts to boil add the roasted aromatic rava gradually .

  • Don't add rava altogether on boiling water . Add gradually and stir continuously while adding . Or else so many Lumps will form .

  • If there are few lumps smash it .

  • Wait for 2 minutes , let the rava cooks well . 

  • When the water absorbs completely , add sugar gradually . And stir continuously while adding .

  • After 2 minutes you can observe the watery consistent . It's nothing but a sugar starts to melt . 

    • Then , add food color mildly . If you don't need food color add saffron water . 

    ( Soak few strands of saffron in a hot water for 10 minutes and use ) 

    • The kesari will turn to yellow color .

    • Stir well and finally add roasted cashews , raisins and cardamom powder to it .

    • At last , add 2 tablespoon of ghee and mix it well . This makes your kesari non-sticky on your hands and while you taste it .

                    Our kesari is ready !

    • Plate your kesari as your desired shape by decorating it with a nuts .
