Introduction to Rava kichadi recipe : 


Rava kichadi is a delicious and yummy south Indian breakfast which is made of with rava and vegetables . Some won't like vegetables to take in their diet . But they love to take vegetables from this dish . 

This is yummy and delicious with coconut chutney that too I had given below .

Ingredients :


Vegetables :


  • Carrot - 1 chopped 
  • Beans - 3-4 chopped 
  • Peas - half a cup ( soaked previous night )
  • Onion - 1 sliced 
  • Green chilli - 2 -3 sliced 
  • Curry leaves 
  • Coriander leaves 

other ingredients :


  • Rava - 1 cup
  • Salt 
  • Oil
  • Mustard 
  • Turmeric powder
  • Chilli powder

Method of preparation :


  • In a pan , add one cup of rava and roast it for 3-5 minutes in a medium or low flame .

  • Then , shift the rava in a separate plate and in the same pan add 4-5 tablespoon of oil .

  • If the oil gets heated add a teaspoon of mustard . 
  • Then , add one sliced onion , curry leaves and 2-3 green chillies . 

  • Once the onion turns golden brown slightly , add the vegetables ( carrot , beans , peas ) .

  • Saute it for 2 minutes and add some water to boil the vegetables for few minutes by closing the pan with lid . 

  • Once the vegetables boiled well . Add salt to your taste and half a tablespoon of turmeric powder and half a tablespoon of chilli powder .

  • After 2 minutes add 2 glasses of water .

  • ( For one cup of rava add two cup of water . Take a same cup which you used for rava for correct measurement ) 

  • If a water starts to boil , check the salt and spice . If you want you can adjust . Add coriander leaves .

  • Then , add roasted rava gradually and stir continuously to avoid lumps . 

  • Once the water absorbed , wait untill rava cooks well .

  • This takes only 4 - 5 minutes . Once rava cooks well turn off the flame .
               Our kichadi is ready !

Now , we will move on to prepare coconut chutney , a delicious combination for kichadi .

Coconut chutney :


Ingredients :


  • Coconut 
  • Roasted Bengal gram
  • Green chilli
  • Garlic 
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Mustard 
  • Split urad Dal 
  • Curry leaves 

Method of preparation : 


  • In blender add a handful of coconut ( grated ) , handful of roasted gram Dal .

  • 2-3 green chillies , 2-4 strands of garlic . 

  • Grind this as a powder first without adding water .

  • Once it gets a fine powder texture then add salt to your taste .

  • Then , add water little by little and grind till it gets a paste like consistence . 

  • Then , in a pan add 2-3 tablespoon of oil . 

  • If a oil heated , add few mustards , split urad dal and curry leaves . Roast it for 2 minutes .

  • Add this roasted mustard , urad dal and curry leaves to the grinded chutney . 
          Our coconut chutney is ready ! 

Serve the rava vegetable kichadi with yummy coconut chutney .


 Health tips : 

If your diet contains vegetables then there is a low risk of health issues . That too in rava kichadi we will include onion , carrot , beans and peas . So , taking atleast 5 servings of vegetables per day will help you to maintain a good health .
